Our mission & vision
At SAWC, we strive to create a world-class whale science and education centre that not only showcases the beauty of whales but also educates the public on marine conservation. Our vision is to inspire every visitor to protect our oceans.
The new facility will replace the current Whale House Museum building, which was finalised in 1998 and does not fall under the protection of the Heritage Act as it is not older than 60 years. The De Wet’s Huis building will be retained.

We aim to engage over 60, 000 visitors annually, fostering a community that values marine education and conservation.
Our goal is to initiate 20 impactful projects focused on marine conservation and education within the next five years.
We are looking to recruit 100 dedicated volunteers to support our initiatives and help us make a difference in the community.
